Camere Da Cecé

"Camere da Cecè" is in the historical centre of Tropea - on the first floor of a XVIII century building, in a square surrounded by ancient noble residences (of the family Barone Adesi, Mottola and Toraldo Naso), near by the sea and the touristic harbour, amongst grand residences, secret squares, alleys, spectacular views, churches and chapels of the noble families - and you will be able to taste, at the adjoining and well-known restaurant “Da Cecè”, the traditional dishes of the tropean families. “Camere da Cecè” proposes the cultural tours of “A Mediterranean Journey” (www.viaggionelmediterraneo.it) dedicated to the landscape, historical- archaeological and gastronomic beauties of the inland part of the Poro, for a limited number of travellers in order to keep the quality of the experience high and establish a direct and individual relationship with each visitor.

The rooms

Our rooms are spacious and very welcoming. The adjacent bathrooms are also spacious and attractive. You will be able to enjoy the tranquillity of your surroundings and your stay will be made pleasant by the long experience of the owners.

Il Ristorante Da Cecé

The restaurant

The elegant restaurant is in Tropea. It is on the ground floor of the B&B, where the breakfast room is.

Inside the building, not far from the breakfast room, you will find a show case entirely dedicated to the Bergamot fruit: snuff boxes – formerly used in the French courts to flavour tobacco – obtained from the peel of the fruit, eau de cologne, soaps and the essential oil. To complete the display dried figs covered with chocolate of Belmonte Calabro, which are offered to our guests as a sign of welcome.

Tropea, pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the most visited town in Calabria, rises on a rock above the sea, where the water is crystalline and the sand pure white.

Our structure is near to Largo Galluppi and the steps going down to the sea (S. Leonardo’s rock and La Rotonda beach). Close by, of great interest, is the Chiesa del Gesù, built on the site where the Chiesa di San Nicola La Cattolica was founded (the former Cathedral); the Chapel of Nobles; the Chiesa di San Francesco/San Demetrio ad the adjoining Cappella di Santa Margherita, important works of art, with the coat of arms of the kings Angioini above the impressive door.

Review

Greetings from Portland, Marianna. We hope this finds you well. We are Peggy, Jalen and Dana Tims, who stayed with you a few weeks ago in Tropea. We will definitely get our great reviews for your family's place up on various sites, but we wanted to weigh in first to say how much we enjoyed our stay in your town. We adored the tremendous hospitality and friendly professional service that was offered, as well as the comfortable and wonderfully historic accommodations. Our outing with you to local food stands, olive farms and wineries was so fun and full of information (500 varieties of olives are used in olive oil. Who knew?!). We also still talk about our snorkling experience on Paolo's boat (which you steered us towards!), as well as our cruise across the Tyrrhenian Sea to see Stromboli light the night sky. Both remain indelible. In addition, our love of Italian (especially Calabrian) cooking has been incredibly heightened by our trip (we loved your brother's kindness, by the way, in keeping the restaurant open after our Stromboli sojourn!), as has our interest for travel in general.

We hope all is well with you, your family (please pass along our greetings to your father -- what a friendly, wonderful person), your new baby and all else. We just wanted to check in personally to say how a memorable trip was made so much more so by such memorable and kind people. And, if you ever need a push to get that cultural/historical center established in the long-run-down mini-castle overlooking the bay, or see that the time is right for Dana to run for Mayor of Tropea, don't be afraid to give us a shout.

Truly, we hope to stay in touch.

Best, and regards,
Dana, Peggy and Jalen Tims
